Video: Anthrax's Frank Bello & Megadeth's David Ellefson on Their Favorite Records

Between the two, Anthrax's Frank Bello and Megadeth's David Ellefson have helped create dozens of classic thrash metal releases across their decades-long careers.

While they're not quitting those illustrious day jobs, they've also formed their own band together, Altitudes & Attitude, which has Bello taking on lead vocals and guitars. Their debut LP, Get It Out, was released earlier this year.

Recently, they visited the Reverb studio to give a metal bass clinic about their various playing techniques. While they were here, we also took the opportunity to ask them about their favorite formative records.

Bello cites Kiss' Alive!, Cheap Trick's In Color, and The Beatles' Revolver, while Ellefson chooses Kiss' Destroyer, Cheap Trick's Heaven Tonight, and Bachman-Turner Overdrive's Not Fragile as some of the earliest to get them hooked on music. But how'd these formative hard rock releases lead them to the metal that would be their calling? '70s and early-'80s releases by Judas Priest, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and more.

To hear why they love these records, be sure to watch the full video above. Find them all on Reverb LP.
